Information on Scholarships for Nontraditional Students September 23, 2009
With so many adult students returning to school — the U.S. Department of Education says that 40% of American college students are over age 25 — many private organizations are offering scholarships to meet nontraditional students’ needs. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NONTRADITIONAL STUDENTS
Osher Re-entry Scholarship- Financial assistance for individuals who have been out of school for five or more years and want to return in order to complete their undergraduate college degree
- Scholarship award amount varies by school
- Cannot be used for an online-only degree
- Financial assistance for adult, nontraditional students in a variety of transitional circumstances
- Must identify your career goals
- Financial assistance for active Jaycees members who want to return to college
- One time award amount of $2,500
- Financial assistance for ANSTHE members
- Scholarship award amounts: 2 undergraduate scholarships (2-year and 4-year schools) at $500 each and 1 graduate scholarship at $500.
- Financial assistance for individuals whose higher education pursuits were interrupted or for students with one prior year of college
- 3 scholarships available at $1,000 each
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree and a member of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of the American Legion
- Financial assistance for adult learners on Florida’s west coast
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in any accredited college, university or technical school
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SINGLE PARENTS
George Snow Scholarship Fund Scholarships for Single Parents (Florida)- Financial assistance for single parents living in Palm Beach County, Florida with a desire to improve their lives and earning potential
- Scholarship award amount varies: $500/year or $1500/year for 4 years
- Financial assistance for single parents living in Arkansas
- Scholarships will go towards tuition and books and potentially utility costs, car maintenance, and childcare
