A master’s degree is an academic program consisting of a mix of courses and research in a specific subject. In order to be eligible for a master’s degree you must have a bachelor’s degree, however it is not always necessary for that bachelor’s degree to be in a related subject as the intended master’s degree. Most master’s degree programs take 1-3 years to complete. There are some joint bachelor/master’s degree programs where both degrees are awarded upon finishing the 5-year course of study.
